One-Time or Conditional Permit Taxes

Permits for building, zoning, vending, or operating a food truck come with their own price tags. These “conditional” taxes are required just to gain permission to use your own property or run a business legally.

Transportation-Related Costs

Vehicle registration, tolls, road usage taxes, and even GPS-based mileage taxes are part of how the government collects revenue from drivers. If it has wheels — or wings — it’s likely taxed.

Utility and Communication Taxes

From your phone bill to your electricity, there are hidden taxes everywhere. Federal excise taxes, usage fees, and service charges pile on top of your monthly costs and often fund outdated or unclear programs.

Employment-Related Taxes (Beyond Income)
